Sometimes just wait.

Saw this spot a few months ago and just knew it had all the elements. SXSW was going on in town, so I just knew the opportunity to capture at least one good shot was on the table. I stayed in this spot for around forty-five minutes; before I captured this particular scene.

I took several shots this day, but this was my favorite one from the group. I normally don’t stay in one spot for long, but sometimes you just have to wait.

The Unexpected.

While downtown Austin,Texas a while back ; I was on the hunt for some good street-photography . The weather was good and I was in the zone. The unique thing about this day was that, there were not many people walking downtown. I figured that, with the good weather, the downtown area would be packed!

After snapping off a couple of pictures, I saw this gentleman approaching from down the street. As I snapped his picture, I was not expecting a “peace sign” to be tossed up. It would have just been another man on a bike, but hand gesture, made this picture even better. Sometimes the unexpected pictures turn out to be the best ones of the day!

Mix it Up !

I was recently downtown Austin, trying out a new camera filter that I had brought. I had been looking at this filter for awhile and decided to try it out. This is not my normal shooting process but it did get me out of my regular photographic routine. I was surprised on how the pictures came out and look forward to creating more projects. So go try something new and even if it doesn’t work out, it's still a win !

Park

I saw this sign from across the street and the light was really pooping, and I had to capture a shot of it. I have taken this picture before and I love the way way the light reflects in the night and off the building. Another thing I have noticed, is if the weather is acting crazy, it also changes the way the atmosphere and light gives it a unique look.

The Train

I saw the train sign on the upper right hand side and took my first picture. Unfortunately it was a boring shot because there was not anything to catch a viewers eye. I had to wait for ten minutes, when I heard the train coming down the tracks. Now, with the train, sign, and the train conductor all in the frame, it’s a better image. So sometimes you have to scrape an image and look for a better shot!

Follow the light

I had thought about going to a different part of the city to do some photography, but decided to stay on the Eastside. I arrived around 5:20 am, and got to work. I stayed in this part of town for around an hour, and came back home. I had taken plenty of shots, a good mixture of small and large business in this area. This one sight stood out above all the rest. It was just the way it was lit. Sometimes following the light gets you the best results.

Planet of The Sun.

I love taking photos, but what I love even more is taking a photo and making something more out of them. I captured the original image of this picture at The Contemporary art museum in Austin,TX; while taking my grandson an art class. I like the original picture, but being in creative environment, here’s my take on THE image.

Shadow and Light

I went outside my front door with my iPhone just to try and capture some art. There is something refreshing about no plan of action, just going out and to create something. Shooting while the sky is shifting colors is exciting! The ultimate battle between the Sun and Moon. I love the process of capturing the shadow and light. So get out there and capture your own shadow and light.

Capturing Light

The thing I love about night photography, is walking around looking for scenes to capture. There is a unique look to the city when the only light you get are streetlights, headlights, and neon signs. If you have not tried night photography in a while; go do it! Just remember SAFETY; scout out an area a couple of days before and take a buddy with you. Night photography is fun but stay safe while doing it.
