Looking for something special when going out to shoot is often a challenge. Most photographer will walk for hours trying to capture that “special” picture. I often try and see what can I capture on this block. It is often not easy but I do enjoy the challenge. So get out there and “enjoy the challenge” . Recently, while out walking our dog with my wife, I decided to bring my camera. That ordinary walk transformed into something much more—an exploration of light, texture, and fleeting moments.

There’s a certain elegance to black and white that color just can’t touch. It’s timeless. It's raw. It’s dramatic.
Lately, I’ve decided to double down on this passion. Among my collection of cameras, I’ve officially crowned one as my black-and-white-only camera. No color allowed. This year, I’m challenging myself to step up my monochrome game—to embrace simplicity and let my work speak with light, shadow, and texture.

Should I go or not go and make the 30 minute drive to Austin? I am often glad that I do go, get my mojo moving and in the flow. So just go out, try something new and see what makes you smile and make something new !

I know I should take my camera with me ALL the time but more than not, it sits on my desk. I took it with me on my morning walk , set to a simple b&w color profile and just snapped along the way. Getting a good walk in while putting in the eye work is always a good thing for me.
So the next time you debate on leaving your camera in the car or on your desk, just bring it with you; you never know what you might capture !

There are times as a creative I think: “ should I make a quick video?” I will will think about this question for several minutes, even though I could just pull my phone out and start recording. It won’t be perfect, picture quality will suck, but then I just make something.
I know it won’t be my “best” work but it get my creative juices flowing and I get excited thinking about what CAN I make! So don’t over think it, just make something, it makes you better in the long run.

It took me longer to drive to the downtown locations, but the decision only took me “ten minutes “ to make. Sometimes the decision will take hours or days to make, to complete one simple action. Just make effort to get up, grab the camera, and go out! You never know what will become of it !

I am always trying to mix and remix media to create a different look. I am always look at how I can change things up, even if it is a small twist on a photo or taking a photo edit to the extreme, I will.
