What do you like?

When I first downloaded this picture I did not like the way it looked, why: because it was not “sharp”. The more and more I look at it, the better I like it. Art is in the “perception “ of the viewer, and this is why I love this shot. So, figure out what do YOU like and let the rest be history.

Draw of the light

There is just something about lights outside lights and empty buildings. I was on the way to work, when this “light” caught my eye. No matter what you photography, light is a must. Remember, practice your eye work and look for the “light”.

Closed

While headed home from a class, I saw this while driving on the highway. I made a loop around and snapped a few shots. I was happy I captured the images, because here in Austin, this will probably be an apartment complex sooner or later.

The Unexpected.

While downtown Austin,Texas a while back ; I was on the hunt for some good street-photography . The weather was good and I was in the zone. The unique thing about this day was that, there were not many people walking downtown. I figured that, with the good weather, the downtown area would be packed!

After snapping off a couple of pictures, I saw this gentleman approaching from down the street. As I snapped his picture, I was not expecting a “peace sign” to be tossed up. It would have just been another man on a bike, but hand gesture, made this picture even better. Sometimes the unexpected pictures turn out to be the best ones of the day!

Mix it Up !

I was recently downtown Austin, trying out a new camera filter that I had brought. I had been looking at this filter for awhile and decided to try it out. This is not my normal shooting process but it did get me out of my regular photographic routine. I was surprised on how the pictures came out and look forward to creating more projects. So go try something new and even if it doesn’t work out, it's still a win !

Looking Down

Often time in street photography we focus on the street level photos. It is often times that you must look around to capture different view points to capture an image. I was headed to a photo walk when I captured this image. Stay Creative My Friends.

Park

I saw this sign from across the street and the light was really pooping, and I had to capture a shot of it. I have taken this picture before and I love the way way the light reflects in the night and off the building. Another thing I have noticed, is if the weather is acting crazy, it also changes the way the atmosphere and light gives it a unique look.

The Train

I saw the train sign on the upper right hand side and took my first picture. Unfortunately it was a boring shot because there was not anything to catch a viewers eye. I had to wait for ten minutes, when I heard the train coming down the tracks. Now, with the train, sign, and the train conductor all in the frame, it’s a better image. So sometimes you have to scrape an image and look for a better shot!

The Passenger Seat

The family and I went out to dinner and I was in the backseat, looking out the window just enjoying the ride. My camera was in the bag on the floor, and I was not thinking about taking any pictures. While looking out the window, the lights wizzing by and out with the camera and I started snapping pictures. You have often hear “ there isn’t anything to shoot”. Even when you don’t have a subject, there is always something to shoot. So always have a camera with you, even if it’s your cellphone.

Follow the light

I had thought about going to a different part of the city to do some photography, but decided to stay on the Eastside. I arrived around 5:20 am, and got to work. I stayed in this part of town for around an hour, and came back home. I had taken plenty of shots, a good mixture of small and large business in this area. This one sight stood out above all the rest. It was just the way it was lit. Sometimes following the light gets you the best results.

When you know , you know.

A family friend just got a new vehicle and I was excited to see it, and went outside. The car was a dark gray color and it was raining outside all day. I thought to myself : I could get a great b&w shot out of this scene. So like a kid in a candy store, I was all over that car taking pictures. I must have spent thirty minutes out the and people were driving by, looking at this “ crazy guy”.

When the inspiration hits you be be creative, you go for it. I have found that if you “think” too much, you won’t do it. So get your camera and when you see the shot, just take it ! Stay Creative My Friends.

Happy ?

I captured this image a few weeks ago while out on a photo walk. I saw him headed my way, so I just waited till he showed up at the right spot. As you can tell by the look on his face, he was not happy with me taking his picture. He stopped his bike in front of and just stared at me for a couple of seconds. We stood there like two bulls locked eye to eye. I smiled and kept on down the street. Photography, got to love it !

Pie in the sky

The clouds were lined up perfectly and I had a wide open landscape in front of me. I almost did I not capture this scene. I told myself: “I will go for a walk tomorrow.” I am glad that I did go out for that walk. I forgot the video I watched on YouTube ; but the core of the message was, just do it now! So if you feel the need to be creative, do it now !

Planet of The Sun.

I love taking photos, but what I love even more is taking a photo and making something more out of them. I captured the original image of this picture at The Contemporary art museum in Austin,TX; while taking my grandson an art class. I like the original picture, but being in creative environment, here’s my take on THE image.

Shadow and Light

I went outside my front door with my iPhone just to try and capture some art. There is something refreshing about no plan of action, just going out and to create something. Shooting while the sky is shifting colors is exciting! The ultimate battle between the Sun and Moon. I love the process of capturing the shadow and light. So get out there and capture your own shadow and light.

The little phone that could.

I use the iPhone 13mini the other night, to do some urban photography. Even though though I had a “real camera” with me, I keep using the phone. I really like the small from factor of this phone and the “look “ of the pictures. If you have not been out in a while at night and took pictures with your phone, go give its shot!

Capturing Light

The thing I love about night photography, is walking around looking for scenes to capture. There is a unique look to the city when the only light you get are streetlights, headlights, and neon signs. If you have not tried night photography in a while; go do it! Just remember SAFETY; scout out an area a couple of days before and take a buddy with you. Night photography is fun but stay safe while doing it.
